The Dental Services We Provide

Corrective Dental Procedures

Are you unhappy about the spacing or misalignment of your teeth? We encourage you to call us at (772) 410-5818 and talk to our friendly, highly trained staff about our corrective dental procedures like Invisalign clear aligners. Our team will work with you to determine what method works best for your lifestyle and dental needs. Invisalign is a wonderful option for working adults because it produces similar results to traditional metal braces, but utilizes a series of custom-made, clear aligners that are virtually invisible. You are able to maintain your professional appearance and enjoy the dramatic improvement of properly aligned teeth without feeling self-conscious. Make Seaside Dental Care your home for Invisalign in Vero Beach!

Restorative Dentistry

Regardless of how meticulous we are about our oral health care, unforeseen situations can result in damaged enamel, cavities, gum disease or even bone loss. Whether the cause is physical trauma or untreated decay, we will work with you to find the dental treatment option that is perfectly suited to your individual oral health needs.

Professional Teeth Cleaning

We recommend that you visit us at least twice a year for a regular check-up and professional teeth cleaning. A professional cleaning will remove plaque and tartar that brushing and flossing at home just can't handle. Professionally eliminating this build-up of plaque and tartar helps to prevent bad breath, tooth decay, and periodontal disease. The best dental care we can provide for you is preventative care. Regular check-ups and professional teeth cleaning prevent small problems from becoming more complex and difficult to treat.

Teeth Whitening

Over time, your teeth's natural whiteness can fade or become discolored as the result of diet, personal habits, or simply getting older. However, the teeth whitening procedures we offer here at Seaside Dental Care can restore the brilliance of your smile. Our teeth whitening method has a proven track record of dramatically improving the whiteness of your smile by up to six shades in a very short amount of time.

Innovative Technology for Dental Care

Here at Seaside Dental Care, we utilize the most advanced, up-to-date technology in order to diagnose and treat dental problems with the highest level of accuracy and effectiveness. You no longer have to deal with time-consuming, uncomfortable traditional dental x-rays. Instead, at Seaside Dental Care we use non-invasive, painless equipment to instantly produce high-resolution dental images that allow our dentist to identify problems such as tooth decay, worn enamel, gum disease, or micro-fractures that would normally remain undetectable and untreated. Here at Seaside Dental Care we also provide the most advanced technology for the placement of dental implants to provide a predictable, affordable, and comfortable solution to your missing teeth.

Oral Health

Cold Sore Treatment

Cold sores are a common nuisance. Although there is no cure for the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 and HSV-2) that causes them, cold sore breakouts can be managed and avoided. Cold sores, sometimes called fever blisters, appear around the lips and mouth and are often associated with red, swollen and irritated skin around the breakout areas.

Symptoms of Cold Sores:

  • Pain around the mouth
  • Fever and sore throat
  • Swollen neck glands

Causes of Cold Sore Outbreaks:

  • Stress
  • Chapped Lips
  • Extreme sunlight exposure
  • Physical exhaustion or illness

Even though no cure exists for the cold sore virus, Seaside Dental Care can provide you with antiviral medication to control the outbreaks and relieve any pain or irritation you are experiencing. You can also avoid developing cold sores by avoiding sharing utensils and drinking cups with others that may be infected.
For advice and treatment of cold sores, call Seaside Dental Care at (772) 410-5818.

Mouth Guards

Custom-fit mouth guards are prescribed and created by a dental professional from thermoplastic material and are based on a detailed mold taken of your mouth and teeth. They can be made for either sports or for nighttime teeth grinding and are created differently depending on the intended use. They're highly personalized, as your dentist can adjust the thickness of the mouthguard, and they're designed to fit perfectly in your mouth with no adjustments needed.
First, your dentist will take an impression of your teeth. This is generally done using a dental putty that forms to all the crevices of each tooth and creates an exact mold of your smile. The mold is then sent to the lab, where the actual mouthguard is created. The structure is made by layering superheated plastic to precise specifications and is then cooled to create an extremely durable piece of dental wear.
Because custom mouth guards are so precisely made, they are able to provide you with optimal safety and comfort. The level of protection afforded by custom-fitted mouthguards is unrivaled by any other mouthguard, and their durability is enhanced by the snug shape, which hugs each tooth closely, eliminating unwanted movement.

For more information on customized mouth guards, please call Seaside Dental Care at (772) 410-5818 today.

Night Guards

If you're experiencing chronic headaches and migraines because of involuntary night-time teeth clenching, let Seaside Dental Care help you with a night guard. A night guard is a thin, transparent device that is worn over the biting surface of your teeth while you sleep to prevent contact between the upper and lower teeth.  Night guards have also proven to be an effective remedy for patients who are suffering from the effects of grinding and clenching their teeth while sleeping.

Bone Grafting

Watch on YouTube

Damage to the jawbone can be caused in areas where there are missing teeth. The jawbone can deteriorate and change the facial structure and make it unsuitable for a dental implant. Today’s technology can repair the inadequate bone in preparation for dental implants through bone grafting, restoring functionality and esthetic appearance.

Major Bone Grafting

Major bone grafts repair implant sites where a previous extraction has taken place or severe bone deterioration has resulted from injury or gum disease. The bone is obtained from a tissue bank taken from the jaw or larger bones like the hip. To replace bone in the upper jaw, sinus bone grafts are performed. Special membranes are sometimes used to dissolve under the gum to protect the bone graft and encourage regeneration.
Minor Bone Grafting
Minor bone grafts are used to repair defects in the jaw. These defects are usually caused by traumatic injuries, tumor surgery or congenital defects. Large defects are repaired using the patient’s own bone. If the jaw has a significant amount of deterioration, areas of bone harvest will be the skull, hip or lateral knee.
Ridge Expansion
A patient will need a ridge expansion when the ridge is reabsorbed and needs an increase in height or width. The bone graft will restore lost bone dimension when the ridge is too thin to place an implant. The ridge of the jaw is expanded by mechanical means in this procedure. The bone graft will need to be placed and mature for a few months before the implant can be placed.
Call Seaside Dental Care at (772) 410-5818 for a consultation.

Local Anesthesia

Sometimes your dentist needs to numb a part of your mouth. He or she injects medicine into your gum or inner cheek. This medicine is called local anesthesia. Lidocaine is the most common local anesthetic that dentists use, but there are many others.

There are two kinds of numbing injections. A block injection numbs an entire region of your mouth, such as one side of your lower jaw. An infiltration injection numbs a smaller area. This is the area near where the injection was given.

If you need local anesthesia in order to have your dental treatment done, your dentist will dry part of your mouth with air or cotton. Many dentists then swab the area with a gel to numb the skin. Then your dentist will slowly inject the local anesthetic. Most people don't feel the needle. Instead, the sting they feel is caused by the anesthetic moving into the tissue. An injection of local anesthesia can last up to several hours.

We'll make sure your dental procedures are as pain-free as possible. Call Seaside Dental Care at (772) 410-5818 to schedule an appointment.

Oral Pathology

Oral pathology is the specialty of dentistry and discipline of pathology that deals with the nature, identification and management of diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial regions (the mouth and jaw areas). It is a science that investigates the causes, processes and effects of these diseases. The practice of oral pathology includes research and diagnosis of diseases using clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical or other examinations.

Socket Preservation

When a dentist extracts a tooth, the procedure leaves behind a small hole where the tooth once was. This socket can be very sensitive at first, which is why your dentist may recommend socket preservation to go along with your extraction.

It's not uncommon for the bone that previously supported the tooth to melt away once the tooth is removed – it doesn't serve a purpose anymore. When this bone fades away, however, gaps form between the teeth, or the teeth can move out of alignment. This is why a socket preservation is typically performed at the same time as the tooth extraction itself.
Protecting the socket after tooth extraction is very important. One reason to protect the socket is to avoid the development of a dry socket, which can form if the blood clot that protects the healing area is knocked loose, exposing the nerve beneath it.

A socket or alveolar ridge preservation procedure involves placing a bone graft into the socket, where the tooth once was. This graft can be made of synthetic materials, bone from other animals (such as cows) or human bone. After putting the graft in the socket, the dentist usually covers it up with a collagen membrane, then sutures the opening to keep it closed. The goal of socket preservation is to improve the appearance of the remaining teeth and gums and to make the process of getting a dental implant (at some point down the line) less complicated.

If you have any concerns about an extraction's resulting socket, whether or not you've had a preservation procedure, reach out to your dentist at Seaside Dental Care for advice. Call our office at (772) 410-5818.

Surgical Extractions

Sometimes trauma, gum disease, cracked or broken teeth, and tooth decay can be too significant, and despite our best efforts to save the tooth, extractions may be the best option. No one wants to lose a tooth, but here at Seaside Dental Care, we will make the process as comfortable and pain-free as possible.

When a tooth is visible above the gum line and your dentist can easily remove it with forceps, the procedure is called a simple extraction. If a more volatile tooth has yet to grow in, however, your dentist needs to remove gum tissue or bone in order to extract it. This is called a surgical extraction and may require stitches to close the site so that it can heal properly. It's important to closely follow your dentist's aftercare instructions to speed recovery and avoid any complications.

The surgical extraction of teeth may sound a bit daunting, but with today's modern procedures and anesthesia, you have nothing to worry about. Afterward, you and your dentist can discuss tooth replacement options to restore the function and beauty to your smile.

Your dentist at Seaside Dental Care can determine if you need a surgical tooth extraction. Call us at today (772) 410-5818.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Most people need their wisdom teeth removed because there isn’t enough space for them to come in properly. They tend to come in at an angle or they don’t fully emerge. Third molars (the wisdom teeth) routinely damage the teeth right next door, called second molars. When wisdom teeth come in sideways like this, it throws off your bite, creates an area where food gets caught, decays both of the teeth and can even cause a painful infection. Dentists recommend removing wisdom teeth before they become a problem and to avoid a more complicated surgery.

Common problems associated with wisdom teeth misalignment include:

  • Painful, swollen gums
  • Infection
  • Crowded or damaged surrounding teeth
  • Possible damaged nerves and jawbone

Even though many fear getting their wisdom teeth removed, the dental team at Seaside Dental Care will provide the safest, most comfortable extraction procedure possible.

The extraction procedure:

  • Local, sedation or general anesthesia is administered
  • An incision is made in the gum tissue
  • The bone that blocks access to the tooth root is removed
  • The wisdom tooth is removed
  • The site of the removed tooth is cleaned
  • The wound is stiched close to promote healing, though this isn't always necessary
  • Gauze is placed over the extraction site to control bleeding and to help a blood clot form

Don't put off having your wisdom teeth extracted when the time is right. Call your Vero Beach dentist at (772) 410-5818 today to schedule a consultation.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening procedures have become increasingly popular in recent years. As the daily consumption of coffee, wine and other stain-causing products has risen, so has the need for treatments that help create beautifully white smiles. At Seaside Dental Care in Vero Beach, Florida, we offer a variety of highly effective teeth whitening treatments.

Take Home Trays

Take-home whitening trays are a type of teeth whitening procedure that you can perform at the comfort of your home. This is an easy and cost-effective teeth whitening treatment that can be easily obtained. You must follow the instructions given by our dentist to see the results at home. Although they can be a convenient option, obtaining great results can take longer than other treatments and they don’t always work well for deep stains. These trays are custom made to go over your teeth, and whiten your teeth through a special gel that is found on the inside of the trays.

Theses trays, once made for you, can then be taken home as a teeth whitening kit, along with the guidelines given by our dentist. The time that they must remain on your teeth can vary according to your teeth whitening needs.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are used to improve the overall appearance of teeth by changing their shape and color. Porcelain veneers are used to treat multiple cosmetic dental issues including things like stained teeth, crooked teeth, chipped or cracked teeth or to fill in gaps between existing teeth.
Porcelain veneers tend to last a really long time and provide the most transformative impact to your smile. By being extremely conservative, we make sure to maintain as much healthy tooth structure as possible while still being able to improve the appearance of your smile significantly. Porcelain veneers are the best way to provide long term improvement to your smile.

Ask our dentist at Seaside Dental Care about porcelain veneers to enhance your smile. Call us at (772) 410-5818 to schedule a consultation.

Invisalign

Treatment

Invisalign aligners are BPA-free, plastic based and custom-made. The aligners exert pressure to help shift your teeth into the right position. Aligners are replaced every one to two weeks. Additionally, they can be removed at any time, allowing you to enjoy your favorite foods and drinks.

Benefits

No uncomfortable wiring
Transparent
Easily removed
Very easy to maintain oral hygiene
Duration of the Invisalign Treatment

A patient generally completes his or her treatment within a year, but it will vary for each person. Your dentist will be able to provide you with an estimated timeframe at your consultation.

Cost

Since Invisalign aligners are custom made, the cost will vary per patient. What generally determines the cost of your treatment will be the extent of your dental problems. Our dental office offers numerous payment options.

Retainer After Invisalign

Our dentist will recommend wearing retainers once you have completed your Invisalign treatment. Additionally, our dentist may suggest scheduling more frequent appointments for teeth cleaning to maintain excellent results.
Our team is here to assist you with any questions you may have; call our office at (772) 410-5818.

Smile Makeovers

Some aspects of your smile that your cosmetic dentist will review with you include the following:

Tooth Color:

Silver or amalgam dental fillings can be replaced with natural, tooth-colored composite restorations, while teeth whitening can improve the color of stained or dulled teeth. Tooth color and shading are important considerations during the evaluation of and preparation for various procedures, including porcelain veneers, crowns, bridges, composite bonding and dental implants.

Alignment and Spacing:

Teeth that are crooked, overlapping or have gaps between them can be straightened and aligned when necessary through orthodontics or Invisalign and improved with veneers.

Missing Teeth:

One or more missing teeth can negatively affect the appearance of your smile, as well as affect your bite and increase your risk for tooth decay, making replacement an integral part of oral health and facial esthetics. Missing teeth can be replaced by dental implants, bridges or partial dentures.

Harmony and Balance:

Uneven, chipped and cracked teeth can be cosmetically bonded for an improved appearance, and a gummy smile can be recontoured to help improve the overall look of your smile.
Your dentist will work closely with you to develop a treatment plan designed to achieve exactly what you want from your smile makeover. Call Seaside Dental Care at (772) 410-5818.

Crowns

Watch on YouTube

A dental crown is a "cap" that is placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size, strength and appearance. A crown might be needed to protect a decayed tooth from more damage, to restore an already broken tooth, to hold a dental bridge in place or to cover a severely discolored tooth. Worried about cost of a dental crown? Worry no more, dental crowns are very affordable at Seaside Dental Care.
The crown procedure at Seaside Dental Care in Vero Beach is relatively simple.

First, we anesthetize the problem tooth area. Once completely numb, the tooth is shaped so that the crown will fit correctly. We then take an impression of the tooth to use in the construction of the crown. The impressions are sent to our dental laboratory to create your crown. Meanwhile, we apply a sturdy temporary crown over the problem tooth. Once your custom crown is ready, you'll come back to Seaside Dental Care and the crown will be delivered.

Crowns offer several benefits:

  • Long term durability
  • Protection from further decay, infection, and cracking
  • Improved chewing and talking
  • An improved, natural and healthier smile

Dental Imaging

During your visit to Seaside Dental Care, you can expect your oral exam to be accompanied by x-rays or other dental imaging techniques. Dentists use imaging to find cavities, hidden dental structures, bone loss or malignant or benign masses.

Digital X-rays

Among the most commonly used dental imaging techniques, digital x-rays do not expose you to as much radiation as film x-rays (up to 90% less). The imaging results help your dentist identify any abnormalities in the gums, teeth and enamel. Unlike film x-rays, digital x-rays yield high quality images almost instantaneously, resulting in shorter dental visits!

Intraoral Camera

An intraoral camera is a small video camera that takes an image of the outside of the gum or tooth. The intraoral camera resembles an oversized pen. While simultaneously viewing a monitor, the dentist inserts the camera into a patient's mouth and gently shifts it about so that images can be taken from a variety of angles.
The intraoral camera is extremely helpful in diagnosing dental conditions such as tooth decay and cracked teeth and in educating the patient. Since the intraoral camera is used in tandem with a computer screen or television monitor, your dentist can easily show you, in real-time, if you have a fractured tooth or need gum disease treatment. A picture is worth a thousand words!
Time-savings that come with the intraoral camera are especially noticeable when your dentist needs to take several images at one time. Intraoral camera images are easy to re-take, print and duplicate. Printouts can be sent to dental insurance companies to strengthen claims. In fact, these images are so useful that some insurance companies now accept images via e-mail; the reduced paper trail cuts down on claim-processing time and is an environmentally friendly option as well.

Cone Beam CT

Watch on YouTube

3-Dimensional imaging modality. These scanners allow excellent visualization of facial skeletal anatomy but at significantly lower radiation dosages than medical-grade CT scanners. The amount of radiation imparted to the patient by some cone beam scanners is very similar to that imparted by a traditional panoramic film. All of the above types of films (excluding medical grade CT scans) can be obtained with this modality (and indeed with time, cone-beam scans may supplant use of these modalities). The accuracy of these images is superior to medical-grade scanners (accuracy with a cone-beam scan is within one tenth of a millimeter (0.1mm).

There are multiple advantages of Cone-Beam Technology (as applies to facial skeletal imaging) compared with medical grade CT scans:

Significantly lower dosages of radiation are delivered to the patient by Cone-Beam CT scans. The dosage of radiation received with certain types of Cone-Beam scans is only slightly higher than that obtained with a Panorex film.
Convenience-these scans can be obtained during your visit at Seaside Dental Care, thereby eliminating the need for transport of the patient to a hospital or imaging center. As the images are generated within several minutes, there is no delay to the patient or provider in obtaining the images.
Multiple anatomic regions can be assessed 3-dimensionally in one scan-eliminating the need for multiple PA and/or panoramic (or tomographic) images. Both upper and lower jaws are scanned at the time, eliminating the need for additional exposures.

Lower costs to the patient-reformatting of data are eliminated with certain cone-beam technologies, eliminating this out-of pocket costs for patients.
Cone Beam CT is used to evaluate the anatomy of the jaws, quality of bone, proximity of important structures, when placing dental implants. This information is important as it provides your dentist a safe and predictable way to plan your dental implant procedures.

Dentures

Teeth can be lost to gum disease, decay or injury. Dentures are removable appliances that can replace missing teeth and benefit your appearance and your health. They can be made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even help fill out the appearance of your face and profile. Dentures may even improve the look of your smile.

Traditional Dentures

Traditional dentures are an economical way to replace missing teeth. They are made of a flesh-colored acrylic base that fits over your gums. The base of the upper denture covers the palate (roof of your mouth), and the lower denture is horseshoe shaped to accommodate the tongue. Traditional dentures generally require several appointments for molds, extractions, fittings, and adjustments but cost less than premium dentures.

Implant Supported Overdenture

Watch on YouTube

Benefits of Implant Supported overdenture:

  • Improved Confidence: Implant supported overdentures look and feel more like natural teeth.
  • Stability During Eating: Thanks to multiple secure anchor points, implant supported overdentures are less likely to shift in your mouth when you eat.
  • Bone and Gum Preservation: By keeping the supportive structures of your mouth engaged, implant supported overdentures help preserve your function and appearance.
  • Improved Dental Hygiene: Implant supported overdentures may be a more hygienic tooth-replacement solution for many patients.
  • Improved Esthetics: Implant supported overdentures are customized to fit the natural look of your face and smile.
  • Nutritional Benefits: Implant supported overdentures allow you to eat a more well-rounded diet.

Two surgeries usually are needed. The first one places the implants in the jawbone under your gums. The second surgery exposes the tops of the implants. The second procedure comes three to six months after the first.

Fixed hybrid Denture

Watch on YouTube

Conventional dentures typically fit over the gums and an upper denture may provide some suction by using the palate. But a lower denture is almost always a nightmare to eat with and tends to flop around.

As a combination treatment, Hybrid Dentures offer the stability and health benefits of dental implants with the coverage and ease of dentures, creating the ideal teeth replacement solution. With this treatment, Hybrid Dentures are firmly anchored to the jawbone with minimal implant posts strategically placed throughout the arch for support. This type of denture can only be removed by a dentist.
Hybrid Dentures are ideal for patients seeking more affordable ways to replace missing teeth. We can also repair and secure loose dentures that have made it harder to speak, eat or smile with confidence.
Hybrid Dentures can provide you with a more youthful appearance, supporting the structure of the face and stopping the process of bone loss. Further, they are more stable and feel like natural teeth. Plus, there is no gum tissue irritation due to dentures slipping. With Hybrid Dentures, all slippage is eliminated.
Perhaps best of all, you will no longer need to use messy creams or adhesives to secure your denture in place. And you'll be able to clean your Hybrid Dentures just like natural teeth with regular brushing and flossing.
Patients who have previously used dentures but are otherwise in good health are excellent candidates for Hybrid Dentures. In fact, many of our patients who have been told they have too much bone loss to have traditional dental implants are ecstatic to hear that they are perfect candidates for Hybrid Dentures because there's no need for bone grafts or other bone enhancement procedures.

What is a Root Canal?

A "root canal" is a term used to describe the natural cavity in the center of a tooth. This area contains a soft area known as the pulp chamber that houses the nerves. If it becomes irritated or infected due to cavities, trauma or decay, root canal therapy is necessary. If left untreated, the infection can cause an abscess, which can lead to swelling of the face and neck, and bone loss around the roots of teeth.

Symptoms of a Root Canal Problem

  • Severe tooth pain and sensitivity to hot and cold temperature
  • Tooth becomes discolored
  • Swollen, tender gums
  • A reoccurring pimple that forms on the gums

Root Canal Therapy Procedure

The dentist examines and x-rays the tooth, then administers local anesthetic. After the tooth is numb, the dentist places a small protective sheet called a “dental dam” over the area to isolate the tooth and keep it clean and free of saliva during the procedure.

The dentist makes an opening in the crown of the tooth. Very small instruments are used to clean the pulp from the pulp chamber and root canals and to shape the space for filling.
The root canals are filled with a biocompatible material, usually a rubber-like material, which is in turn placed with an adhesive cement to ensure complete sealing of the root canals. In most cases, a temporary filling is placed to close the opening. The temporary filling will be removed by your dentist before the tooth is restored.

Finally, your dentist will place the crown or other restoration on the tooth to protect and restore it to full function.

If you are experiencing any of the symptoms of a root canal problem, please call Seaside Dental Care in Vero Beach at (772) 410-5818 to schedule a consultation.

Dental implants improve your quality of life and they are definitely worth it. Do dental implants hurt? At Seaside Dental Care we make sure every patient is comfortable. Most patients report that dental implants involve less pain than a tooth extraction.

Advantages of dental implants include:

  • A secure, comfortable fit that looks and feels natural, without the slipping of normal dentures
  • No other adjacent teeth have to be ground down or disturbed to hold an implant in place
  • You can talk and eat normally without the inconvenience

    During the implant process:
  • Your jaw bone area just below your gums is fitted with metal posts.

  • Not only will your self-esteem improve, but your oral health will as well.
